Privacy Policy

This explains what Ticker Tape collects when you use the website and the extension, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've tried to keep it plain.

1. Who we are

Ticker Tape is run by Ticker Tape Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17379320) whose registered office is at Carrwood Park, Selby Road, Swillington Common, Leeds, LS15 4LG, England. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean that business. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

This policy covers the Ticker Tape website (tickertape.co.uk), the Ticker Tape Chrome extension and the account that connects them. For anything about your data, email contact@tickertape.co.uk.

2. The short version

  • The extension does its filtering inside your browser. We don't collect your browsing history or the posts and videos you scroll past.
  • We store what you choose to keep in your account: the posts and videos you save, your ratings and reviews, and your settings. That is how your library follows you to another computer.
  • Payments go through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • There are no ads, no advertising trackers and no analytics cookies on the website. We don't sell your data.
  • You can download everything in your account, or delete it, from the extension's Account page whenever you like.

3. What we collect

When you sign in

You sign in with Google or with X. We never get your password for either.

  • With Google: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We ask only for basic profile and email (the "openid email profile" scopes).
  • With X: your X user ID, @username, display name, profile picture, bio, verified status, follower and following counts, post count and the date your X account was created. We ask only to read your profile (the "users.read" and "tweet.read" scopes). We cannot post, like, follow or send messages as you.

What you keep in your account

  • Your library: the posts and YouTube videos you save. For each one that can include the author's name and handle, the text of the post, links to its images or video, the ticker, your tags, notes and folder, any call you record, and whether you marked it a hit or a miss.
  • Ratings and reviews you give to X accounts and YouTube channels, and the "useful" votes and reports you make on other people's reviews.
  • Settings: your filters, modes and schedules, saved views, favourite accounts and channels, and your Lock In exceptions.

Plans and payments

Your plan, its status and renewal date, your trial, and records of each payment or refund (amount, tax, currency, date and a link to the invoice). Stripe holds your card and billing details; we keep only Stripe's customer and subscription IDs to match them to your account.

When you contact us

Your name, email, the messages you send through the contact form, the account page or the extension's Feedback page, and any screenshots you attach. If you're signed in, we note your plan at the time so we can help faster.

When you ask for access or join a list

The email address, X handle, name and note you give us when you ask for access or sign up for launch news.

How you use Ticker Tape

To keep the service running and understand how it's used, we record:

  • which days you used the extension, and when you last signed in and were last active;
  • the version of the extension you're running;
  • key account events, such as signing up, signing in, starting a plan, saving or deleting posts, and leaving or removing a rating or review;
  • for each signed-in session, the browser's user agent and when the session was last used, so you can be signed out safely.

Our servers also see your IP address when your browser or the extension talks to them. We use it to keep the service secure and to limit abuse; we don't build a profile from it.

What we don't collect

The extension reads the X, YouTube and TradingView pages you visit so it can filter, label and add buttons to them. That happens on your computer. Nothing from those pages is sent to us unless you act on it, for example by saving a post or rating an account. The chart tools (snap, draw and the magnifier) work only on a page where you start them, and snaps are saved to your own computer.

4. How we use it, and our legal basis

UK data protection law asks us to name a lawful basis for each use. Ours are:

What we doBasis
Sign you in, store and sync your library, ratings and settings, run your plan and take paymentContract: it's the service you asked for
Show community scores and reviews, without your name, to other membersContract, and our legitimate interest in a useful, honest community
Send receipts, trial confirmations, payment problems and sign-in linksContract
Answer support requestsContract, or our legitimate interest where you have no account
Security, preventing fraud and abuse, moderating reviewsLegitimate interests
Understand usage (active days, events) to improve Ticker TapeLegitimate interests
Send launch news and offers, such as the Lifetime launch priceConsent, or legitimate interest for existing customers; you can unsubscribe from any of these emails
Keep payment and tax recordsLegal obligation

We don't make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. What other people can see

Ratings and reviews are shown to other members as part of each account's community score. Reviews are shown unsigned: other members don't see your name or handle. Don't put details in a review that identify you or anyone else.

Your library, notes, hit-or-miss record, settings and favourites are private to you.

6. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers. We use a small number of service providers who handle data for us under contract:

  • Stripe: payments, subscriptions, invoices and tax. Stripe is also a controller of your payment data under its own privacy policy.
  • Google and X: when you choose to sign in with them.
  • Resend: sends our emails.
  • Hostinger: hosts our website, server and database on a server in the United Kingdom.

We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of selling or reorganising the business, in which case this policy continues to protect it.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, so your data stays protected to a UK standard.

8. How long we keep it

  • Your account and everything in it: until you delete your account.
  • Activity events: one year, then deleted automatically.
  • Sign-in sessions: deleted when they expire or you sign out everywhere. One-time sign-in codes and links last between two and fifteen minutes.
  • Payment and invoice records: six years, as UK tax law requires. Stripe keeps its own records for the same reason.
  • Support requests: two years after the last message.
  • Access requests and list sign-ups: until you ask us to remove them or unsubscribe.

9. Your rights

You can:

  • Download your data: use Download my data on the extension's Account page for a copy of your profile, library, ratings, reviews and settings.
  • Delete your account: use Delete my account on the same page. It cancels any subscription and permanently deletes your profile, library, folders, ratings, reviews, votes, reports, sessions and activity. Community scores are recalculated without your ratings. We keep only what the law requires (payment records) and your support requests.
  • Correct anything that's wrong, object to or restrict how we use your data, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing contact@tickertape.co.uk.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link in each one.

We'll answer within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

10. Cookies and local storage

The website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies, and our fonts are served from our own site. When you sign in to your account on the website, a sign-in token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; signing out removes it. Stripe's checkout pages set their own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

The extension stores your settings and library in Chrome's storage on your computer, and keeps a copy in your account so it syncs.

11. Google user data

Ticker Tape's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google profile and email only to sign you in and run your account. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and no person reads it except to give you support, keep the service secure or meet the law.

12. Security

Connections to Ticker Tape are encrypted. Sign-in tokens are stored only as one-way hashes, a reused token ends the session, and support attachments are only shown to you and our team. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever have a breach that puts you at risk we'll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

13. Children

Ticker Tape is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has given us data, email contact@tickertape.co.uk and we'll delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the extension before it takes effect. See also our Terms of Use.
